Palm Cross making day

12 Apr 2025

Getting ready for Palm Sunday, and having a lot of fun while doing so!

Today, members of the Cathedral congregation gathered to make palm crosses for the Palm Sunday procession. Some learned to make crosses for the very first time, while others shared their many years of experience.

They ended up making well over 150 palm crosses, ready for the celebration tomorrow. There was plenty of time to get to know each other and chat. Everyone had mastered the art of cross-making by the end of the morning, when Dean Mzi arrived with well-earned hot cross buns.

In the meantime, Rev Luyanda was in charge of decorating the nave of the cathedral ready for tomorrow's service - it's looking incredible.

Thank you so much to everyone for all of the hard work getting everything ready for the start of Holy Week.
